Perfecto Mobile enables testing Motorola’s new Android smartphone, DEXT (Cliq)

Thursday, October 15th, 2009
Motorola has launched the much awaited Android handset, DEXT. The smartphone, which is also known as Cliq, is now available for testing on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service.

Critics were very impressed with the new device’s operation system. So for instance a blogger at AndroidGuys wrote that “in terms of the software, this is where the device really starts to shine. The Moto Blur software is a great step up from the stock Android platform. It also includes some fantastic enhancements such as unified messaging and loads of applications like Facebook and Twitter included in as standard.  Also, make sure you test out the photo gallery- they have really excelled and Phones4U thinks it might just be the best produced to date”.

Another reviewer at Andoidbloke noted that “the main advantage of this phone is that it is the second UK handset released in the UK to sport a slide out qwerty keyboard.  Coupled with the 5MP camera, this phone is a great debut for Motorola and seriously has me looking putting my G1 into my freecycle pile”.

At the same time Flora Graham wrote on CNET UK  that she didn’t like the fact that the device doesn’t look very sexy and she questioned its build quality adding that “social-networking widgets are flaky at times, tinny-sounding calls, some gaps in the user interface and no multi-touch capability.”

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic device now available for mobile applications testing

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Nokia launched the new 5630 XpressMusic device aimed at music fans. The smartphone is part of series operated by the Symbian operating system and is already available for testing on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service.

Apparently, XpressMusic includes the quickest processor Nokia has ever introduced. As one reviewer at symbianworld explained the new device has several advantages such as being compact and slick, 3.5mm audio jack and dedicated music keys and it comes with music service. On the other hand the main disadvantages are that the phone’s camera doesn’t include auto focus, the Nokia Messaging is not preinstalled and the battery has only 860mAh.

The reviewer concluded, however, that “the slick 5630 XpressMusic offers a standard camera and good music features. Especially combined with Comes with Music, this device will be a must have for every music fan. Other than that the battery life isn’t as good as it could be”.

At the same time, a commentator at GSMArena noted that “the 5630 XpressMusic is a great upgrade over the Nokia 5320 – faster 3G, Wi-Fi on board, improved camera, a speedy CPU and all in a 12mm slim package”.

Another reviewer at 2tech.Org noted that “This Nokia 5630 Xpress Music series was already starting to use micro USB charger port (the port for both data transfer). This port is in the body, the right end. When connected to a PC, there is the option PC Suite, Mass storage, image transfer, or Media Transfer.”

Nokia’s new business phone, E55, now available for mobile testing

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Nokia
introduced the E55, a new candybar smartphone, aimed at the business market. The new device is already available for testing on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service.
The E55 represents the first attempt of the Finish manufacturer’s to introduce a “compact QWERTY keyboard” that consists of 20 buttons.

This unusual move of Nokia requires users to get used to a new reality. As a reviewer at Slashgear noted “the unusual keyboard on the E55 may find favor for those whose fingers aren’t already trained in T9 predictive text, but we struggled with the compact layout and frustrating symbol selection.

Meanwhile the standard keys on the E55 made it perfect for the sort of one-handed use a slim, traditionally-designed handset is best for”.

At Phoneareana the reviewer concluded that the Nokia E55 “was worth the money, despite the mediocre in-call quality”. The reviewer noted that it sports an almost perfect screen that remains usable in direct sunlight, good keyboard, wonderful browser, extremely capable email client and the necessary organizer functions to meet the needs of highly demanding customers. “To top it off, the handset looks great, is thin, light-weighted and powered by a really robust battery”.

At the same time, a reviewer at Mobileburn, who ranked the device as “highly recommended” also highlighted that the device has a few small annoyances, such as not being able to update the firmware over-the-air, or edit outgoing email settings after the initial setup.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 (Gemini) now available for mobile handset testing

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

The BlackBerry Curve 8520, also Gemini, the new RIM’s smartphone is now available for developers who want to test their new mobile application on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service.
The new low-end device, which is RIM’s first in a new family of optical trackpad-toting smartphones, is aimed at consumers who want to own a BlackBerry but have a tight budget.

So for instance, reviewer Simon Sage at Intomobile noted that “the 8520 is aiming for a more budget-conscious crowd, which certainly earns it some brownie points on the price front, but it feels like just a bit too much was left out. It’s still a stand-up BlackBerry, and will handle e-mail, music, basic browsing and the odd application just fine, just don’t put your expectations too high for anything beyond that.”

Another interesting feature is the design of the new device. On Mobilewhack the reviewer commented that: “the most glaring surprise would of course be the square-shaped optical trackball (something like Nokia’s navipad) which replaces the traditional trackball found on other RIM devices.”

Samsung i7500 Galaxy now available in Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Samsung
presented its first android-based smartphone introducing the i7500 Galaxy. The new device is already available for testing on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service.
This is the first attempt of the Korean giant to enter the Google Android OS playground and it is expected to meet tough competition from other companies that entered the market earlier.
It is no wonder, therefore, that instead of focusing on the unique features of the new i7500 reviewers decided instead to compare the newcomer to the other devices that are already available on the market.
Critics such as phoneArena.com rushed to highlight the resemblance of the new handset to the general look of the HTC Magic, but said they “really liked its overall appearance”.
Another reviewer at techradar.com said that “overall, we were pretty impressed with the Samsung i7500 Galaxy. At least we’ve got a competitor on the Android front from another big brand – and that can only help Google’s cause in making Android one of the most dominant OS’s on the planet”. On the other hand the reviewer noted the slight wood-effect of the i7500 buttons.

HTC Hero has landed; The new Android device available on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud

    Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

    Sprint
has finally launched the most advanced android the HTC Hero. The new device is now available for testing on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service.

The Hero was already praised by reviewers at GSMArena as “the most advanced Android to date”. It added that “the operating system is probably the closest the competition has ever come to the iPhone’s touchscreen revelation. The bold lines of the HTC Hero are just a hint at its superior hardware and when it comes to homescreen kit and widgets, it definitely has an edge.”

The Hero, which is the third Android smartphone to hit the market, suggests that the future supply of Android-based devices will present tougher competition for the iPhone. So for instance the reviewer at phandroid concluded that “Android is the greatest platform in the world and the HTC Hero is the best touchscreen only Android phone in the world”.

On the other hand the reviewer at Gizmodo concluded that “the Hero is flawed, though, in ways that are truly depressing in light of its potential and how much it does get truly right: It’s often sluggish, which absolutely destroys the user experience. It’s a particularly unfortunate affliction as the iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre emphasize speed, making the Hero feel that much slower”.

The Touch Pro2 is equipped with the company’s new HTC Straight Talk technology, which includes an integrated email, voice and speakerphone experience.

    New HTC Magic now available

    Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

The much anticipated HTC Magic Android powered phone was released and is now available for testing on Perfecto Mobile’s Handset Cloud service.

The new lightweight mobile device has numerous advanced features and an upgraded interface. Among others, it provides the Google suite of services including Gmail, Search, YouTube and Maps. It is also enhanced with Outlook synchronization, Smart Dialer, and an onscreen keyboard with predictive text.

The HTC Magic is perceived as a true entertainment and communication powerhouse. One of the main advantages of this handset is the pocket-friendly dimensions of 113 x 55 x 14mm, and that it weighs only 119g.

The new device won much respect from reviewers. So for instance, Phones4u commented that “Its beauty is backed up by its technological trickery through notable features such as a Qualcomm CPU, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.2MP camera and HSDPA, all of which are bound to keep you mesmerized.”

A recent review by TechReader indicates that the “HTC Magic shape, button placement and use of the new Android 1.5 upgrade is all a definite upgrade”. The reviewer pointed out the advanced functionality of the touch screen, the addition of new applications that are genuinely useful and cool. It further added that the fact that it’s open source ensures that new applications for this phone will be coming out soon. On the other hand, he mentioned that the HTC Magic is still far from being a true competitor to iPhone.
