Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan (Big B) invites Aamir Khan for ‘Paa‘ premiere.

Amitabh Bachchan is gearing up for the premiere of his Bollywood Upcoming film movie ‘Paa‘ and has invited Aamir Khan for the grand event here.

The 67-year-old actor met Khan at his home ‘Prateeksha‘ on Sunday and the two discussed their upcoming movies –’Paa’ and ‘3 Idiots‘.

“Aamir dropped by yesterday in the morning at my invitation and it was lovely to spend time with him, discuss the film, show him the promo, receive his appreciation, talk about his own film and invite him for the premiere,” Bachchan wrote in his blog.

Khan is awaiting the release of ‘3 Idiots’, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25 2009. Both the stars also discussed the promotional strategies for the films.

Bollywood Superstar Legend Actor Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan to discuss marketing strategies for ‘Paa’, ‘3 Idiots’.

Amitabh Bachchan and Bollywood Hot Bold Actor Aamir Khan are leaving no stone unturned to promote their upcoming films “Paa” and “3 Idiots” respectively – the two are meeting Sunday to discuss marketing gimmicks for both the films.

“Paa” releasing date is Dec 4, while “3 Idiots” releasing date is Dec 25.

“Aamir comes over Sunday at my initiative to discuss a few promotional points for our respective films. It is always a joy to meet him… We have always spent time together discussing various topics of common interest and yes films is one of them.

Aamir, who excels at promotional gimmicks for his movies, has so far had live chat Gupshup with fans on the Internet, reportedly got in touch with them through social-networking websites and even launched the music of the film online.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, “3 Idiots” has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller “Five Point Someone”, it stars R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Bollywood Hot Actress Kareena Kapoor apart from Aamir.

Big B too is promoting “Paa”, in which he plays a 13-year-old suffering from the disease progeria that causes premature ageing. He says his fans often come to visit him on Sundays and that he plans to “give hand outs autographed by me or maybe by Auro”.

“There is a unique way in which the promotion for ‘Paa’ is scheduled over the radio and soon you shall all be in a position to witness it…,” he wrote.

“Talks have now been initiated for the premiere to be held in not one, not two, but three centers. And we are diligently working on a London-Dubai-Mumbai destination… The logistics and the mechanics are being worked out and hopefully there will be some news soon,” he added.

Directed by R. Balakrishnan, “Paa” stars Bollywood Hot Actor Abhishek Bachchan and Bollywood Hot Actress Vidya Balan as Amitabh’s parents.

Paa Abhishek Bachchan said that, “Dad was a good son”

On the occasion of Children’s Day, TOI managed a peek into the world of 13-year-old Auro, a very special child who will visit cinema theatres this December 4. Who would’ve thought that Abhishek Bachchan would actually play a father to Bollywood’s biggest legend Amitabh Bachchan someday?

The near impossible has happened. In Big Pictures’ Paa, the iconic Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and son Bollywood Hot Actor Abhishek Bachchan come together to create a never-before-seen magic. Says R Balki, the director of this ambitious venture that is the current talking point with astute cineastes, “The idea came when I walked into Amitabh Bachchan’s office one day and found Abhishek there in a very mature mould. I was completely fascinated seeing a somber Abhishek and a playful Amitabh Bachchan who was lounging around. The scene I saw made it seem like Abhishek was the elder and Amitabh Bachchan was the son.’’

Fascinated with this role reversal, Balki who won several accolades for his Cheeni Kum with the Big B, decided that he should capture this father-son equation on screen. He decided to cast Abhishek as an understated politician with a special child. “On the net I came across the disease Progeria,’’ says the film-maker. “I read extensively about it and learned that there are only 40-odd cases of children across the world who is afflicted with this disease. It matched the concept I had in mind. So in a way I found the concept first and then went looking for a disease to match it. Not the other way around.’’

This film will mark the return of AB Corp to Hindi cinema after a hiatus. When asked how he felt playing his father’s father on screen, AB Junior says, “Paa was a unique experience, in fact the unique nature of this role was the reason I chose to do the film. The film gave me the opportunity to see how real life role reversal works. When Balki first spoke to me about the film and the concept he had in mind, I told him immediately, ‘I am on!’ It is not every day that you get to play your father’s father. It was great working together and he was a good son!”

Balki adds, “The film’s USP is that it will be the only time when you get to see a son playing his dad’s dad and also the one time when you get to see a father playing his son’s son.’’

Balki is particularly pleased that being professional actors —both the Bachchans have pitched their performances right.

Guess Balki couldn’t have asked for anything better for his second outing at the movies.

Bollywood Hot Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh Said that,”Ranbir and I are competitors”

Their grandfathers were best friends, their fathers enjoy great camaraderie and Neil Nitin Mukesh says he and Bollywood Hot Actor Ranbir Kapoor are pals too. But he also admits that there is healthy rivalry between them.

“Ranbir and I are of course competitors. But there’s no negative rivalry between us. Our respective fathers (Nitin Mukesh and Rishi Kapoor) would kill us if we behaved like two brats fighting for the same roles,” Neil said.

“I’m proud that Ranbir’s and my grandfather (Raj Kapoor and Mukesh) were very close friends. My father and Ranbir Kapoor’s father adore each other. Ranbir is like my younger brother,” he added

Neil’s Bollywood Upcoming Movie Jail and Ranbir’s Bollywood Upcoming Movie Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani released on the same day.”I’d want Ranbir’s film to do as well as mine,” Neil says. “Fortunately, Jail and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab look like north and south poles.”

Bollywood’s Shahenshah Hot Superstar Amitabh Bachchan completes 40 years.

The year was 1969 and a young 27-year-old – tall and lanky – aspiring actor named Amitabh Bachchan made his big screen debut in Khwaja Ahmad Abbas‘ Saat Hindustani.

The film, which released exactly 40 years ago on November 7, saw Amitabh Bachchan play the role of a Muslim poet who joins six other commandos to liberate Goa from the Portuguese.

Amitabh Bachchan bagged the National Award for best newcomer that year, but everyone thought his unconventional looks would go against him in showbiz. However four decades later the actor is a living legend who is still going strong.

Aamir Khan said, “Idiot is not stupid”

Ahead of the release of his new film “3 Idiots”, Bollywood Hot actor Aamir Khan Thursday drew a distinction between the term “idiots and “stupid”, saying that “idiots are very normal persons” who at some point prove themselves in an “unconventional way”.

At an event in a city hotel to promote the first song of Rajkumar Hirani’s “3 idiots”, Aamir said: “Idiots are thought to be very normal persons but at some point of time they prove themselves to be someone with extra caliber. They are not stupid; rather they come to limelight in an unconventional way.”

Actor R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi were also present at the screening of the song “Jab life ho out of control, all is well”.

There are five songs in the film.

“3 idiots” is a story of three engineering students – Sharman Joshi, Aamir Khan and R. Madhavan – and their experiences on the campus.

Bollywood Hot Actress Kareena Kapoor and Boman Irani play important roles and Kajol makes a special appearance in the film. The campus shown in the film is of the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

The film is scheduled to release date Dec 25.

Bollywood Hot Actor Shah Rukh Khan might be the undisputed King of Bollywood, but it’s Ranbir Kapoor who reigns in the world of PR strategy and popularity.

In a survey conducted by Eikona, the Specialized Content and PR Measurement Evaluation Unit division of TAM (Television Audience Measurement) across four cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore, Bollywood Hot Actor Ranbir Kapoor has got the maximum votes – 39 points out of 40 as the top actor who has garnered maximum publicity because of the publicity campaign generated for Wake Up Sid.

Bollywood Hot Actor Sanjay Dutt is a close second at (37). But strangely, SRK is at the bottom of the list (on number 10) in terms of PR and media coverage managing only 4 points out of 40. Even the media-shy Bollywood Hot Actor Salman Khan beats SRK with a score of 21 while Aamir tops Salman with 25. Hrithik Roshan comes third with a score of 32.

So what’s the reason for this Kapoor boy’s popularity?

Ranbir tells a daily, “I really don’t know if I should be thankful or apologetic about it. I guess it’s also because of the multiplex strike that three films of mine are releasing back to back. But I will make a conscious effort next time to space my releases.”

In an interview to a daily, Karan Johar says, “If Ranbir tops the list it’s because of his publicity done for Wake Up Sid for which I would like to thank his efficient publicist. I would also thank Ranbir for being so supportive about our PR strategy. Both Ranbir, my publicist, publicity designer Divya and Ayaan (Mukherjee) have all worked to promote and project Ranbir and Bollywood New Release Movie 2009 Wake Up Sid the correct manner. If Ranbir has created a buzz it’s because we have targeted the demography of the youth and we all know that the youth dictates a large section of viewing audiences today. It’s all about youth power.”

Surprisingly, Karan’s best friend Shah Rukh is seen at the bottom of the list. KJo defends SRK, “Shah Rukh is above any ratings. He won’t come under any ratings. He is a national and international icon and not to be put into these ratings. Which product won’t sell if Shah Rukh endorses it? He’s almost the face of the entertainment world above and beyond ratings.”
